Barking Dog Brings End to Home Burglary

An open garage was the gateway for a residential burglary on the 11900 block of Calle Parral with the homeowners awake in their bedroom early Friday morning.

Around 3:30 a.m., a suspect or suspects entered the home through its open garage and took items from inside, according to a post on the San Diego Police Department Northeastern Division's Facebook page.

When the family dog began barking, the suspect(s) fled in an unknown vehicle.

Police have been warning residents about leaving windows and garages open, even with the hot weather, because of the access they provide for would-be criminals. Last week, the residents of a home on the 12100 block of Royal Lytham left the garage open overnight to cool off, but woke up to find their cars and garage shelves ransacked.
