Rancho Bernardo Home Burglarized After Garage Left Open Overnight

The homeowners had left the garage partially open for ventilation.

Rancho Bernardo homeowners trying to cool off got a cold surprise when they woke up Sunday morning: burglarized cars.

The residents had left the garage door partially open for ventilation at their home on the 12100 block of Royal Lytham Row when they went to bed around 1 a.m. Sunday, according to apost on the San Diego Police Department Northeastern Division's Facebook page.

Around 10:40 a.m. that morning, after not hearing or seeing anything during the night, they found their car doors open and property missing from inside the cars, the trunks and the garage shelves.

"Come home to a hot house, not an empty house!" police warned in the Facebook post, advising residents to lock doors, windows and keep garage doors closed even if they will only be away for a few minutes.
