Fourth of July DUI Campaign Leads to 100 San Diego County Arrests

The California Highway Patrol reported 100 DUI arrests through early Sunday morning.

One hundred drivers had been arrested on suspicion of DUI on SanDiego County highways and unincorporated roads through 6 a.m. Sunday over a long Fourth of July weekend.

The California Highway Patrol also reported one traffic fatality. The arrest and fatality counts span a period from 6:01 p.m. Wednesday through 6 a.m. Sunday, an extended holiday weekend in 2013.

Last year, in a shortened Fourth of July period, the CHP reported just 37 arrests and no fatalities.

Statewide, there have been more than 1,400 arrests and 29 fatalities since Wednesday.
