Jessica Carscadden, 10, of Rancho Bernardo, has been featured on NBC 7 San Diego for her work with the We Care Bears project which provides stuffed animals for children in need.
The youngster launched the project and was recently awarded a two-year $50,000 to continue her efforts, according to Peace First, a nonprofit organization that awarded her the funding. She was one of 10 youngsters to be chosen. The organization “believes that young people have the power and the inclination to create positive change around them,” according to it’s website.
According to NBC News, Carscadden had been an orphan in China and had dreamed of having a teddy bear.
NBC 7 has the details on the grant and project.
