Student Honored by Rancho Bernardo Service Club

Rancho Bernardo's Sunrise Rotary Club has honored the Abraxas High School Student of the Month for October.

Rancho Bernardo’s Sunrise Rotary Club recently honored the Abraxas High School Student of the Month for October.

The honor is part of an ongoing partnership with Abraxas. Student Leslie Song was honored at the most recent breakfast meeting, Rotary officials said. Teacher of the Month Sue Bartolini and Rancho Bernardo Sunrise Rotarian Jeanne MacLaren made the presentation.

“Leslie has done lots of volunteer in the community garden, and has made himself indispensable working both at school and, until very recently, at the Chicken Pie Diner,” said Ms. Bartolini. “He’s graduating this December, ahead of schedule.”

“Leslie is a great model for us all to follow, showing what can happen when we set our minds to expand our comfort zone. He decided to better himself, then practices each day to find ways to improve,” Ms. MacLaren said during the event.

Leslie received a gift certificate and an award in honor of his achievement, officials said.
