PQ Town Council to Host Supervisor Roberts Thursday

County Supervisor Dave Roberts is set to be the featured guest speaker at the group's 7 p.m. Thursday meeting.

In another local stop, county Supervisor Dave Roberts will be the guest speaker at the Rancho Peñasquitos Town Council's monthly meeting at 7 p.m. Thursday in the El Dorado Room at the Double Tree Hotel & Resort, 14455 Peñasquitos Dr.

Roberts, who spoke to the RB Community Council earlier this month, represents District 3, which includes PQ, RB, 4S Ranch and several other communities extending out to Del Mar. He has announced that he is seeking District 3 volunteers to sit on four advisory boards about the environment, health and mobile homes.

Roberts, who is gay, recently spoke out against San Diego County Clerk Ernest Dronenburg, who unsuccessfully tried to get the State Supreme Court to stop the issuance of licenses for same-sex marriage. In court papers filed Monday, State Attorney General Kamala Harris said the clerk was "improperly using the state's legal system to try to prevent same-sex couples from getting married," according to the Associated Press.

The council's Thursday agenda also includes the appointment of new members and a discussion about the upcoming Polynesian Festival at Hilltop Park on Aug. 17.
