Photos: RB Hall of Fame Welcomes Karen Rott

Rott, who leads the Rancho Bernardo Historical Society, was chosen as the 2012 inductee into the Rancho Bernardo Hall of Fame.

Karen Rott, the head of the Rancho Bernardo Historical Society and a former RB Community Council member, was officially welcomed into the Rancho Bernardo Hall of Fame during a dinner Saturday night.

Rott, who came to RB in 2005, was chosen as the 2012 inductee into the Hall of Fame because of her work with the Society, the Rancho Bernardo Community Foundation and the committee that helped fundraise to renovate Fire Station No. 33 on Bernardo Center Drive after the 2007 wildfires.

Saturday's ceremony in Rott's honor, held at the Bernardo Heights Country Club, brought together family members, friends and community members, including about a dozen Hall of Fame members.

"I am deeply honored. I almost don't know what to say," Rott said to the room of about 75 attendees.

The guest of honor, who described herself as a "Texan by birth ... Rancho Bernardoan by choice," said she was amazed by the philanthropy and volunteerism of the RB community.

In return, Rott was recognized with several proclamations from local leaders, including San Diego City Councilman Carl DeMaio (District 5) and state Assemblyman Nathan Fletcher (District 75), who presented her with certificates.

RB Hall of Fame President Robin Kaufman read excerpts of a proclamation from San Diego County Supervisor Pam Slater-Price (District 3) who declared Saturday to be Rancho Bernardo Hall of Fame Day in the county.
