Poway Unified Schools to Graduate More Than 2,500 in Class of 2013

Rancho Bernardo, Westview and Mount Carmel high schools' seniors all graduate Thursday afternoon.

Westview High School has the largest Class of 2013 among the Poway Unified School District's campuses, and will say goodbye to its 575 seniors on what will be a busy Thursday afternoon for the district.

The ceremony at Westview Stadium coincides with Del Norte High School's send-off for its second graduating class ever, with 460 seniors (3 p.m., Nighthawk Stadium). An hour later, Rancho Bernardo High School kicks off its graduation for 497 students (4 p.m., Viejas Arena at San Diego State University), followed by Mount Carmel High School bidding farewell to 449 graduates that evening (5:45 p.m. Mount Carmel High School Stadium).

Poway High School's graduation is at 6 p.m. Thursday at Titan Stadium.

A number of PUSD seniors have garnered recognition for their academic work this year: Mount Carmel's Megan Grossman received a $250 Continuing Education Scholarship from the Palomar Council PTA; RB High's Alexis Mary CoonsDeanna Dunn and Stephanie Hutchens, and Megan Eisele and Anna Fox of Westview High School also received $500 scholarships from the Palomar Council PTA; 10 local seniors were chosen for $2,500 National Merit Scholarships (Westview's Vineel C. Adusumilli, Laurence J. Li, Ian Teik-En Lim and Suyang Kevin Wang; RB High's Yuwei G. Dai, Kuyunga Kim and Ling L. Zeng; Del Norte's Joyce Lee, Michelle M. Niu and Shannan Ray-Chaudhuri).
