U.S. Supreme Court Won’t Hear God Banner Ban Case

A Poway Unified teacher had been banned from hanging up God-themed banners in his classroom.

The United States Supreme Court has declined to take up the case of a Westview High School teacher who was prohibited from hanging up a God-themed banner in his classroom.

“The high court’s action lets stand an appeals court ruling that the school district, like any employer, has the right to restrict the workplace speech of its employees,” according to a Los Angeles Times story.

Bradley Johnson, a longtime math teacher, had a large red, white and blue banner in his classroom with messages such as “In God We Trust” and “God Shed His Grace on Thee.” Poway Unifed School District officials told him to take it down, starting the legal battle.
