Supervisor Dave Roberts Seeks Volunteers for Environment, Health Boards

Board members can help influence legislation and, in one case, settle residents' disputes.

San Diego County Supervisor Dave Roberts is looking for volunteers from the Rancho Bernardo area to sit on four advisory boards.

The seats are open to people in Roberts' District 3, which includes Rancho Bernardo, Rancho Peñasquitos, 4S Ranch and several other communities. The application asks about job experience, expertise and availability that volunteers will be able to bring to the boards.

Here are the boards with openings for District 3 residents, and their duties:

Environmental Health Advisory Board

  • Provide input on environmental health programs and fee policies, review and help create policies to influence state and federal legislation.
Health Services Advisory Board
  • Make recommendations about the Health and Human Services Agency's budget, how to increase access to health care, current and proposed health related legislation and critical health issues. The board also is the designated nominating authority for membership on certain advisory committees.
Mental Health Board
  • Evaluate the community's health needs and prepare an annual report on the county's health system. Also, review performance outcome data and share with the California Mental Health Planning Council.
  • Help select the mental health services director.
Mobile Home Issues Committee
  • Give advice in disputes between residents and mobile home park owners when they can't or don't want to solve the issue using a mediator.
  • Evaluate mobile home park issues and create an annual report.
