RB Planning Board to Weigh Storm Drain, Street Widening as Top Priorities

The Rancho Bernardo Planning Board is expected to decide which local projects it wants first in line for funding at 7 p.m. Thursday.

The Rancho Bernardo Planning Board is expected to decide which local projects it wants first in line for funding, from storm drain improvements on Pomerado Road to widening Bernardo Center Drive.

The board is scheduled to meet at 7 p.m. Thursday at the RB Swim & Tennis Club, 16955 Bernardo Oaks Dr.

Board and community members have, over the past year, discussed which projects they want to see move forward in Rancho Bernardo, such as adding traffic signals, expanding the library and adding a fire station. The group's Regional Issues Committee has proposed a ranking of the dozens of suggestions in various areas:

The top five ranked transportation projects are:

  1. Pomerado Road storm drain improvements at Pomerado Road and Pomerado Court.
  2. Bernardo Center Drive widening—Cloudcrest Drive to Camino del Norte.
  3. West Bernardo Drive at Bernardo Center Drive intersection improvements.
  4. Rancho Bernardo Road sidewalk installation—south side of Rancho Bernardo Road between Via del Campo and Matinal Road.
  5. Bernardo Center Drive sidewalk installation—east side of Bernardo Center Drive between Fairhope Road and Bernardo Center Court.
The recommendations also include suggestions for park, library, fire and public utilities projects. The rankings do not guarantee that any project will be completed in that order but do help provide guidance for city officials.

See the full rankings in the agenda that is attached or available here.

Also on the agenda:
  • Proposal to change the meeting start time to 6:30 p.m.
  • Report on RB Alive!
  • Verizon/Oaks North project.
  • Presentation from SANDAG on RB bus service.
