RB Community Council Preview: Police Captain Talks Safety

Capt. Chris Ball is scheduled to talk about how budget cuts have affected the police department.

The Rancho Bernardo Community Council is set to meet at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Rancho Bernardo Library, 17110 Bernardo Center Dr.

On the agenda:

  • Police Presentation: Capt. Chris Ball from the Northeastern Division of the San Diego Police Department, which includes Rancho Bernardo, is scheduled to discuss what makes the NE division different from the others, how budget cuts and recent officer deaths have affected the department, and what residents can do to stay safe.   • New Member At Large: The council will vote on making regular attendee and former MCAS Miramar fire chief Jerry Sack a member at large, and chair of the Public Safety Committee. Sack has been operating as the group's liaison with the city's Public Safety and Neighborhood Services committee.
