RB Community Council Helps Improve Pomerado Road Safety

Yellow lines and reflective pave markers have been installed to help better light the way on Pomerado Road.

Residents of Rancho Bernardo have been concerned of safety along Pomerado Road and Robin Kaufman, who heads the Rancho Bernardo Community Council, said there has been recent resolve with the issues.

"I reached out to streets division and asked them if we could have four things taken care of on Pomerado Road between Rancho Bernardo Road and Highland Valley Road," Kaufman wrote in an email. 

The RB Community Council leader said she brought the following issues to attention and that all have been resolved within a month of her request:

  • have the street re-striped in both directions  
  • have yellow lines painted on both sides of all the medians  
  • have the nose tips on all the medians freshly painted with yellow paint  
  • have Reflective Pave Markers (RPM) installed on both sides of all the medians as well as on all the turning lanes so they can be better seen in the evening.  

"If you drive along Pomerado Road in the evening, it's like driving on a airport runway with all the RPMs—you can't miss the medians and can't miss which lane or turning lane you need to be in," Kaufman said. "We hope the community will appreciate our efforts to maintain and enhance the quality of life in the community, including public safety issues such as this one.
