PQ Council Preview: Locals Seek Grants for Community Projects

The council meets at 7 p.m. Thursday at the DoubleTree Hotel & Resort.

One would help create a foodbank community garden at St. Timothy's Episcopal Church. Another would provide aid to Los Peñasquitos Elementary School students who want to attend after school programs.

A half-dozen applicants are set to ask the Rancho Peñasquitos Town Council for community grants on Thursday to help with a variety of projects, from erosion control to helping locals celebrate Flag Day on Sunday. PQ residents are invited to see the grant request presentations, plus find out which ones are granted during this month's council meeting, starting Thursday at 6:30 p.m.

The six grant applicants will each have five minutes to make their case at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at the DoubleTree Hotel & Resort, 14455 Peñasquitos Dr., tentatively in the El Dorado Room. After the presentations, the PQ Town Council's monthly meeting starts at 7 p.m. in the Sandpiper Room.

On the meeting agenda:

  • Pledge of allegiance by "Monte" Montemarano from the Rancho Peñasquitos VFW Post.
  • Ratification of the general election results.
  • Grant applications.
  • Announcements about Flag Day on Sunday at Hilltop Park and a fireworks show on July 3 at Westview.
