Poll Workers Needed for Election Day

Workers are needed in Carlsbad, Encinitas, Del Mar and Rancho Penasquitos.

Updated 10:32 a.m. Monday with county contact information.

San Diego County officials announced they need workers to staff polling places for the Nov. 6 general election.

People who speak Chinese and Vietnamese especially are needed, according to the registrar of voters office. Fill-ins also are needed in case anyone planning to work the election drops out unexpectedly.

Poll workers receive a stipend ranging from $75 to $175 depending on the assignment. Bilingual poll workers get additional $15 if they are assigned to provide language assistance.

Prospective poll workers must be U.S. citizens, eligible to be registered voters in the state of California and have transportation to their assigned polling location, according to the registrar's office.

Depending on the job assignment, they may need access to the Internet for online training and attend a two-hour class.

Among the cities and communities that need poll workers are Carlsbad, Del Mar Heights, Encinitas, Mira Mesa and Rancho Penasquitos.

To apply, go to SDVOTE.com. For more information, call 858-565-5800 or email pollworker@sdcounty.ca.gov.

Regarding Patch's response to this comment: A 'typo' is when someone hits the wrong key on theRead More keyboard, like typing "Democrut" or "Demacrat." Calling a Democrat a Republican is a MISTAKE and party affiliation is very easy to check check these days. Maybe this is just a "blog," I'm not sure. But if it's a "news site", and the people writing stories are purporting to be "journalists" or "reporters" could easily do better and should do so. Let's not minimize a factual error in a "news" story as a "typo."

I think that Fletcher flip-flops partially because he is looking for means to bring HIS politics toRead More the table.
