Rancho Bernardo resident Robin Kaufman was honored by Assemblyman Nathan Fletcher (R-San Diego) during a special ceremony in Sacramento on Monday as the "Woman of the Year" in state assembly District 75.
Kaufman heads the Rancho Bernardo Community Council and was chosen for her work on programs that "provide greater public safety, better education and schools, and a better sense of community," Fletcher said in announcing her selection.
The annual ceremony brings together women from across the state, and Kaufman on Tuesday said she was amazed at the work the honorees are doing in their communities.
"It was a great honor to be there. It was awe inspiring to listen to all of the different accomplishments all these women did for their assembly districts and their communities," Kaufman said. "It was a very fascinating day."
Kaufman also has been inducted into the Rancho Bernardo Hall of Fame and sits on the RB Planning Board representing Westwood. She was the community's Honorary Mayor in 2011.
