  • Pathway to Prosperity Job Creation Plan: After months of meeting with local business leaders, DeMaio released a plan with 112 ideas to keep jobs in San Diego and streamline operations. "We must start by making significant changes in the culture and processes at City Hall to foster job creation, and then follow that up by aggressively marketing San Diego to businesses and consumers across the nation and the world,” DeMaio said. ()
  • Help for Veterans: The councilman's "Welcome Home Plan" focuses on combating veteran unemployment through job training and opportunities for veteran owned businesses to bid on city contracts. "City leaders should not stand idly by as returning veterans face unemployment rates twice as high as the rest of the population,” DeMaio said. ()
