The two candidates for mayor of San Diego will appear Tuesday evening at a public forum sponsored by the Rancho Bernardo Community Council and the Rancho Penasquitos Town Council.

Candidates David Alvarez and Kevin Faulconer will speak at the event and answer questions from the audience. The moderator will be Allison Ash from 10News.

The event is free and residents will have an opportunity to meet with the candidates.

“This is a wonderful family event where children are also welcome to participate and observe the democratic process in action,” the organizers said.

The forum is scheduled to begin at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 3, at Ed Brown Senior Center, 18402 West Bernardo Drive, San Diego.  The candidates will take the stage from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

Faulconer received 42.2 percent of the votes in the Nov. 19 special election. Alvarez picked up 27.2 percent. The runoff election will be in February, but a date has not been set.
