Kersey: Unopposed and a Bit Surprised in District 5

Rancho Bernardo businessman Mark Kersey has no challengers—so far—in the San Diego City Council District 5 race.

He watched and waited for someone else to get in the race—and no one did.

“It took a while to sink in,” Rancho Bernardo businessman Mark Kersey told U-T San Diego about running unopposed for the open San Diego City Council District 5 seat representing Rancho Bernardo. “When you’re campaigning, there’s a lot of work you’re doing to prepare. I didn’t know who my opponent would be, but there were rumors of people running, and I wanted to be ready for that.”

See the rest of the U-T San Diego story to learn more about Kersey and find out when the last time was that someone ran unopposed for an open council seat.
