Fletcher Names Kaufman 75th District Woman of the Year

Robin Kaufman is the president of the Rancho Bernardo Community Council.

Assemblyman Nathan Fletcher (R-San Diego) on Monday announced that he had chosen Rancho Bernardo Community Council President Robin Kaufman as the Woman of the Year in the 75th District for her "tireless commitment" to the community.

Assemblyman Nathan Fletcher, R-San Diego, [on Monday] announced he has named Robin Kaufman as the 2012 Woman of the Year for the 75th Assembly District. Kaufman, a Rancho Bernardo resident, is the Community Council President and Rancho Bernardo’s former honorary mayor.

“For years, Robin Kaufman has been a tireless advocate for the Rancho Bernardo community. She has successfully implemented programs to provide greater public safety, better education and schools, and a better sense of community,” stated Fletcher. “Her devotion to Rancho Bernardo is an example for us all to follow. I look forward to honoring her service in Sacramento later this month.”

President of the Rancho Bernardo Community Council – As President, Kaufman has been instrumental in ensuring that community landmarks are preserved. She has been a strong advocate for ‘green’ living by promoting battery and E-waste recycling programs.

Chair of the Fire Station No. 33 Renovation Project – In this role, Kaufman raised money to assist with upgrading Fire Station No. 33, which is the only station in Rancho Bernardo and more than 40 years old.

Community and Senior Advocate – Working closely with San Diego Community Relations Officers, Kaufman spearheaded a scam-prevention program for seniors who live in Rancho Bernardo. Most recently, Kaufman was able to secure funding for three new AED for neighborhood community centers. Rancho Bernardo’s three community centers offer recreational programs to seniors, adults and children.

Community Parks Leader – Kaufman, a pet-lover, played an instrumental role building an off-leash dog park in Rancho Bernardo. Working with the City of San Diego’s Park and Recreation Department, she currently serves as the community liaison to the park and coordinates events to fundraise for park maintenance. Kaufman [is] the president of the “San Diego Love-On-A-Leash” program, a pet-provided therapy organization. Program volunteers take trained cats and dogs to libraries, schools, hospitals and senior living facilities with the mission of providing friendship and happiness. 

“I am honored to be selected as this year's woman of the year for the 75th District and I look forward to dedicating my services to the community in the future,” stated Kaufman.

Kaufman will be honored during a special ceremony at the State Capitol on March 26, 2012.
