Dumanis Backed by Entire Board of Supervisors

Supervisors Greg Cox and Bill Horn joined their colleagues in endorsing Dumanis on Wednesday.

County Supervisors Greg Cox and Bill Horn endorsed District Attorney Bonnie Dumanis on Wednesday in her San Diego mayoral bid.

Dumanis now claims the backing of all five members of the Board of Supervisors. Dianne Jacob, Ron Roberts and Pam Slater-Price previously endorsed her.

"Bonnie Dumanis was elected by the people of San Diego to guarantee accountability and credibility at the District Attorney's Office," Cox said. "She's done that and so much more the past nine years."

He said Dumanis was the only candidate with "the right kind of chief executive experience to change the culture at City Hall, bring more jobs to San Diego and fix city schools."

Horn said the District Attorney's Office has responded to public safety challenges in his North County district.

"Bonnie is tough and holds people accountable, but her leadership style also brings people to the table to get things done," Horn said. "Bonnie will take what's working at the county, including an effective management system, and make her experience work for the city of San Diego."

The field in the June 5 primary election includes Councilman Carl DeMaio, Rep. Bob Filner, D-San Diego, independent Assemblyman Nathan Fletcher and website owner Tobiah Pettus. If no one gets more than 50 percent of the vote, the top two finishers will face off in the November general election.

They're seeking to replace Mayor Jerry Sanders, who endorsed Dumanis when the campaign started.
