Councilman Carl DeMaio is bidding farewell to District 5 by highlighting some of his accomplishments in Rancho Bernardo.
DeMaio's term representing Rancho Bernardo on the San Diego City Council ends this week as the sole candidate to replace him—businessman Mark Kersey—takes over. DeMaio, who lives in Rancho Bernardo, opted to run for mayor instead of a second term, losing to U.S. Rep. Bob Filner, a longtime Democrat.
In his final council district newsletter, The DeMaio Dispatch, the councilman spotlights several RB projects:
- Banning parking "for sale" vehicles on Rancho Bernardo Road.
- Preventing the Ed Brown Senior Center from closing.
- A $900,000 settlement agreement for over-billing for 2007 wildfire debris removal.
