The District Attorney's Office is weighing possible criminal charges against a San Diego police officer, the agency confirmed Thursday.

Prosecutors declined to disclose the nature of the investigation involving SDPD Officer Chris Hays. According to 10News, however, Hays is accused of sexually assaulting four women while on duty.

He has been placed on paid leave pending the outcome of the case.

In 2012, ex-San Diego police Officer Anthony Arevalos was sentenced to almost nine years in prison for demanding sexual favors from women he pulled over on suspicion of driving while intoxicated in the Gaslamp Quarter.
