Police to Launch DUI Campaign for Fourth of July

The DUI crackdown extends from Wednesday through Sunday.

With the Fourth of July falling on Thursday this year, likely kicking off a four-day weekend of revelry for locals, police have planned an extended countywide DUI crackdown starting Wednesday.

From Wednesday through Sunday, San Diego County's AVOID the 15 DUI Task Force will be on the lookout for impaired drivers.

The task force, which is funded by a grant form the state's Office of Traffic Safety through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, includes officers from several agencies including the San Diego Police Department.
