The San Diego Fire-Rescue Department responded to reports of a vegetation fire at Camino del Norte and Bernardo Center Drive, which briefly threatened nearby apartments Monday afternoon.
About two acres of vegetation burned near High Country Plaza, in an area officials said didn't have the potential to grow into a wildfire.
“It’s an area with a small amount of brush,” said dispatcher Cynthia Gonzalez.
The fire was put out within 20 minutes, according to department spokesman Maurice Luque.
A strike team―a group of about four engine companies―was ordered to respond to the call at 2:39 p.m. in the business district. The cause of the fire is unknown.
