Drunken Man Hit by Car

The 51-year-old was hit while trying to cross Rancho Peñasquitos Boulevard.

A 51-year-old man was hospitalized with serious head trauma after he walked in front of a car while attempting to cross a Rancho Peñasquitos street while under the influence of alcohol, police said.

The man was struck by a 2006 Mazda in the 13400 block of Rancho Peñasquitos Boulevard around 7 p.m. Wednesday, according to San Diego police Officer David Stafford.

The Mazda was driven by a 36-year-old man, who was not hurt, Stafford said.

Unfortunate for both parties. This incident will now be reported as an "alcohol-related" driving injury which will skew the statistics of reported drunk driving injuries. (drunk walking reports do not exist)
