Credit Union Branch Robbed in 4S Ranch; FBI Searching for Suspect

Suspect demands cash from three tellers and flees on foot. The suspect gets away, the FBI is investigating.

The Point Loma Credit Union branch in 4S Ranch was robbed Friday afternoon by a man who indicated that he had a gun, according to the sheriff’s department. The suspect fled on foot and deputies set up a perimeter, but the suspect was not found.

Around 5:45 p.m., the suspect entered the branch on 10413 Craftsman Way and demanded cash from a teller, according to Sgt. Greg Rylaarsdam. As the teller was complying, the suspect put his hand into his jacket pocket as if he had a gun. He then made the same demand from two other tellers, but no weapon was actually seen, according to Rylaarsdam.

The suspect got away with an undetermined amount of cash. The sheriff’s department described the suspect as a black male, between 5 feet 8 inches and 5 feet 10 inches tall, 160 to 200 pounds wearing a black baseball cap, black leather jacket and a black T-shirt.
