Contest: Win Family 4-Pack to Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus

Show features high-wire acrobats, daredevil stunts on The Steel Vortex, the youngest female Human Cannonball and Clown Alley.

Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus is coming Aug. 8-11 to Valley View Casino Center (formerly the San Diego Sports Arena), presenting “Built To Amaze!”—about what it takes to make “The Greatest Show On Earth.”

Ringmaster Andre McClain, with his horse Comanche, leads his funny and mischievous circus supervisors to build a fantastic design of heart-pounding and wondrous performances.

Patch readers have a chance to win a family 4-pack of tickets to the 7 p.m. show Thursday, Aug. 8 (Opening Night). All you need to do is leave a comment telling us why you deserve the tickets. You must include your full name. A winner will be selected at random. All comments must be in by 6 p.m. PST on Thursday, Aug. 1. The winner will be announced 8 a.m. PST on Friday, Aug. 2.

More than 110 artists and athletes representing 17 countries along with 95 exotic and domestic animals put on acts including:

  • Nine-time international award-winning comedic duo Alex and Irina Emelin of Russia introduce their brand of magic and humor with trained animals including poodles, ferrets, rabbits and snakes.
  • The Trampoline Tower Tumblers, a troupe of 10 competitive aerial athletes from the Ukraine who launch themselves from trampolines to scale, rapel and pass through a three-story high translucent tower.
  • The King Charles Troupe hailing from New York City brings one-wheeled excitement to the ring with a spirited and comedic basketball competition featuring 10 whirling unicyclists.
The show also features high-wire acrobats, daredevil stunts on The Steel Vortex, the youngest female Human Cannonball, remarkable hand-balancing duos, the always hilarious Clown Alley and four-legged stars including Bengal tigers presented by the charismatic “Taba” and an Asian elephant dance party.

Arrive early for several interactive elements before the show starts.  Opening 90 minutes prior to each performance, all ticket holders are invited to tour the Animal Open House to get up-close with the show’s animals.

Then an hour before show time, families can step onto the arena floor to meet circus performers and animals at the interactive All Access Pre-Show, FREE admission to all ticket holders.
