Week in Review

Helping the homeless; farmers market changes; Thanksgiving and Black Friday.

Here is a look at some of the stories posted within the past week:

  • The Hands of Hope Homeless Outreach Ministry headed downtown for a twice-monthly giveaway. Patch talked with Mario Hernandez, a homeless man who came to the giveaway and said he has been on the streets since losing his job in the spring.
  • The is at the start of the new year after complaints from neighboring businesses about parking on its current Tuesday schedule. Market officials say the change will allow them to expand the market with more kid-friendly activities and different types of vendors.
  • Thursday, of course, was Thanksgiving. The San Diego Patch editorial team members and we looked ahead at Black Friday deals.
  • Later that night, we talked with the Black Friday deal-seekers camped outside the Best Buy on Rancho Carmel Drive.
  • The great big shopping day on Friday also was a big day for the varsity football team which faced off against Mission Hills in the playoffs. The Broncos put forth a great effort but in a close game, 14-13.
  • You didn't miss , did you? In the latest video, Capt. Justus Norgord from in Rancho Bernardo shows how to safely put up holiday lights and decorations.
