Skies to Clear as Wet Weather Moves On
After a long dry spell rain finally returned, with sunshine expected beginning on Tuesday.
A trough of low pressure the brought scattered showers to the region Sunday has passed through, leaving residual moisture and mostly cloudy skies, according to the National Weather Service.
The clouds are expected to remain through Tuesday morning, when skies should clear and temperatures begin to rise.
California Highway Patrol Officer Jesse Udovich said 27 traffic collisions were recorded between midnight and 8 a.m., when the freeways were wet, even though few cars were on the roads because of the Martin Luther King
holiday.

Weather conditions also forced Caltrans to delay the opening of new express lanes on Interstate 15 in Escondido, according to Udovich. The agency hopes to open the lanes, which were dedicated last week, on Tuesday.
