SD County Fair By the Numbers, from Michael Jackson to Deep-Fried Kool-Aid

Fun fair facts: How much fried stuff did they really sell? How many zombies joined in for "Thriller?"

The San Diego County Fair wrapped up Monday with an all-time attendance record of 1.4 million guests over the three weeks of the fair. The previous attendance record was 1.3 million, set last year.

Everyone talks about the crazy foods and stunts during the fair (and Patch did ), but here's a look at the numbers and estimates as reported by organizers now that the 2011 fair is in the books:

  • Deep-fried Kool-Aid—100,000 sold.
  • Deep-fried Oreos—40,000 sold.
  • Deep-fried Klondike Bars—10,000 sold.
  • Deep-fried brownies—15,000 sold.
  • Deep-fried Twinkies—14,000 sold.
  • Deep-fried avocados—20,000 sold.
  • Deep-fried frog legs—20,000 sold.
  • Deep-fried Krispy Kreme chicken sandwiches—6,000 sold.
  • Deep-fried Girl Scout cookies—1,000 boxes used.
  • Deep-fried butter—4,000 sold.
  • Chocolate-covered corn dogs—3,000 sold.
  • Chocolate-covered bacon—40,000 pieces.

Fireworks America of Lakeside designed the 20-minute July Fourth Fireworks Show. It consisted of:

  • 300 2.5-inch shells.
  • 430 3-inch shells.
  • 168 4-inch shells.
  • 116 5-inch shells.
  • 72 6-inch shells.
  • 22 8-inch shells.
