PTA Awards $3K Scholarships to PUSD Seniors

The $250 and $500 awards are for seven students going to two- and four-year education programs after graduation.

The Palomar Council PTA has named the seven winners of its scholarships for Poway Unified School District seniors heading to two- and four-year education programs.

The Palomar Council PTA chose Megan Grossman of Mount Carmel High School and Jessica Taylor of Poway High School for its two $250 Continuing Education Scholarships. The scholarship was available to PUSD seniors planning to attend "an accredited educational institution that provides up to two years of college-level academic, technical, or vocational instruction with an emphasis on career preparation."

The Palomar Council PTA also chose five PUSD seniors for $500 Jessica Romag Memorial Scholarships, named in honor of Poway High School alumnus and Cal Poly San Luis Obispo junior Jessica Leigh Romag, who died July 17, 2004 in a car crash at the age of 20.

The five awardees are:  Alexis Mary CoonsDeanna Dunn and Stephanie Hutchens of Rancho Bernardo High School; and Megan Eisele and Anna Fox of Westview High School.

The awards will be presented during the group's June 4 meeting, set for 6:45 p.m. at the PUSD office, 15250 Avenue of Science, San Diego.
