Patch's Picks: Calling All Campers!

Get your kids off the couch and out of your hair at a local camp this summer.

While school-age children look forward to summer from the second day of school on, parents are usually not as enthusiastic about the prospect of unsupervised minors running amok for two-plus months.

Instead of shipping them off to some hapless relative or paying out the nose for extended babysitting, try these local day camps and summer camps, which will entertain, educate and inspire your children while keeping them professionally supervised.

Day campers will learn team-building while participating in group games, sports, dramatic play, songs, arts and crafts, or swimming at the pool or a local beach.  Camp registration starts March 12.

The club hosts a wide variety of science and art-themed day camps for children ages 3-12.  Registration is open now.

The 4S Ranch branch of the club offers a weekday summer camp running from June to August, in which kids will have the opportunity to use facilities such as the gymnasium, computer lab, arts and crafts studio, game room and more.  Registration begins May 2.

This tumbling and cheerleading day camp will keep kids fit while having fun on a variety of equipment, including a rope swing, zip line and several kinds of trampolines. Registration and an updated schedule will be available next week.

Whether your child is an accomplished tennis player or an inexperienced phenom-to-be, specialized training at the academy’s summer day camps will nourish his or her skills in a fun environment.
