Update: 4,000 Lose Power in RB, PQ

The outage is expected to be fixed by 9 p.m.

Updated 6:01 p.m. Friday.

About 4,000 customers near Rancho Bernardo lost power around noon Friday, but all were expected to have power restored by 9 p.m., a San Diego Gas & Electric spokesman said.

The outage began just after noon in Rancho Bernardo, Rancho Peñasquitos and San Pasqual, caused by a problem with underground electrical equipment (the SDG&E's Outage Map mistakenly said it was a problem with overhead equipment), the spokesman said.
