Lower Demand Keeps Gas Prices Falling

Average prices are at their lowest since Feb. 24.

The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in San Diego County fell on Thursday for the 29th consecutive day, dropping a half-cent to $3.619, its lowest amount since Feb. 24.

The average price is 5.2 cents less than one week ago and 23.2 cents lower than a month ago, but 38.5 cents more than a year ago, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service.

The average price has fallen 23.8 cents over the past 29 days, including a half-cent on Wednesday.

The decreasing prices are the result of lower demand, which is typical for the fall, according to Jeffrey Spring of the Automobile Club of Southern California.
