Gas Prices Start Falling Again

Prices had been on a 40-day decline before increasing on Tuesday. Now they're falling again.

The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in San Diego County fell nine-tenths of a cent Wednesday to $3.533, one day after a 40-day streak of decreases ended with an increase of one-tenth a cent.

The average price is at its lowest amount since Feb. 18. and 4.1 cents less than one week ago and 23.2 cents lower than a month ago, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service.

However, the average price is 26 cents more than a year ago.

The streak of declines was the longest since a 91-day streak from Sept. 16-Dec. 15, 2008. The average price fell 31.6 cents during the streak.

The decreasing prices are the result of lower demand, which is typical for the fall, according to Jeffrey Spring of the Automobile Club of Southern California.
