The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in San Diego County rose 1.7 cents Friday to $4.20, its highest amount since Oct. 27.
The average price has increased 18 consecutive days, rising 47.3 cents over that span, including 1.5 cents on Thursday, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service.
The average price is 8.3 cents more than one week ago, 52.9 cents higher than one month ago and 29 cents greater than one year ago.
The increasing prices are the result of reduced supplies caused by low levels of production in Southern California stemming from refinery maintenance, according to Jeffrey Spring of the Automobile Club of Southern California.
