Gas Prices Keep Rising

Average prices have climbed 19 of the past 22 days.

The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in San Diego County rose six-tenths of a cent Friday to $3.844, the 19th increase in 22 days.

The average price has increased 16.8 cents over the past 22 days, including 1 cent on Thursday, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service.

The average price is 3.4 cents more than one week ago, 12.5 cents greater than one month ago and 2.4 cents above what is was one year ago.

"Oil prices are still in the $85-$90 a barrel range and providing some upward pressure to gas prices," said Jeffrey Spring of the Automobile Club of Southern California.

"However, other states have seen much larger price increases over the past month. Drivers in Chicago are now paying $3.98 on average, higher than any Southland area, while New York City drivers are paying $3.91 on average and Detroit gas is averaging $3.87."
