Driver Fractures Both Legs After Falling Asleep on Bernardo Center Drive

The driver crashed into a tree after falling asleep, officials said.

A 20-year-old man fractured both of his legs after falling alseep and crashing into a tree in Rancho Bernardo over the weekend, officials said.

The man was driving a 1993 two-door Honda Civic westbound on Bernardo Center Drive near Camino Del Norte just before 6:30 a.m. Sunday when he fell asleep and hit the tree at a high speed, officials said.

The man suffered multiple fractures, including those to his legs. He was transported by ambulance to Scripps Memorial Hospital La Jolla.
