4S Ranch Library to Host Persian New Year Celebration

Three young musicians from the Iranian School of San Diego are scheduled to perform on March 13.

San Diego County Library is hosting three Persian New Year celebrations, providing attendees the opportunity to enjoy free entertainment and learn about ancient traditions and culture. Known as Nowruz, the Persian New Year festival typically lasts for 13 days and is celebrated by the Iranian people and in various countries around the world. It marks the first day of spring and the beginning of the Iranian calendar year. Dates and locations include:

  • March 13 at 6 p.m., 4S Ranch Branch, 10433 Reserve Dr., 858-673-4697
  • March 27 at 6 p.m., Poway Branch, 13137 Poway Rd., 858-513-2900
  • April 13 at 2 p.m., El Cajon Branch, 201 E Douglas Avenue, 619-588-3718

The 4S Ranch Library celebration will include a performance by three young musicians from the Iranian School of San Diego and a craft for children, the Poway Library event features Persian music by Ali Sadr, Milad Jahadi and the Daf Ensemble, and the El Cajon Library event will feature a performance by young musicians from the Iranian School of San Diego.

"Nowruz is an upbeat family event that will introduce children and adults alike to a bright culture," said staff member Farrah Mazhari.
