Live TV Blackout for Bolts vs. ’Boys: Chargers Fall Short of Stadium Sellout

Preseason game will be shown on a delayed basis beginning at 9:30 p.m. Saturday on Channel 8.

The Chargers announced that they failed to sell enough tickets by Wednesday’s 6 p.m. deadline and Saturday’s preseason game against the Dallas Cowboys at Qualcomm Stadium will not be telecast live in Southern California.

The game will be shown on a delayed basis beginning at 9:30 p.m. Saturday and replayed at 11:35 p.m. Sunday on KFMB-TV Channel 8.

Under the NFL’s long-standing policy, live telecasts for games failing to sell out 72 hours before kickoff are not allowed within a 75-mile radius of the stadium, including all areas whose television signal reaches within the 75-mile zone.

That means that Los Angeles-based KCBS-TV Channel 2 will have to show the game on a delayed basis beginning at 11:30 p.m.

Nearly 5,600 general tickets remain for the game and can be bought online at Chargers.com, by calling TicketMaster (800) 745-3000, at TicketMaster
outlets or Qualcomm Stadium Gate 3. A variety of club seats and a limited number of single-game luxury suites are also available.
