Smashburger Serves Up Delicious Eats

Smashburger opened its doors over the weekend to excited residents and hungry stomachs.

As a Rancho Peñasquitos resident for nearly my entire life, I knew the area was in dire need of a new, reasonably priced and delicious restaurant to revitalize the area.

Smashburger is definitely the answer.

This up-an-coming burger chain kicked open the doors to its newest location in Rancho Peñasquitos over the weekend.

Don’t get me wrong, PQ has some good fast food places, but the high-traffic Vons shopping center needed a little zest to shake up this suburban community. As a result of Smashburger, high school teenyboppers will have a fun place to share a milkshake and families will have a new, closer alternative for a sit-down restaurant that everybody will enjoy.

What makes this burger eatery unique is not only its fresh-tasting burgers, but also its à la carte style of ingredients for your burgers together. Want bleu cheese dressing, Frank’s Red Hot, fried egg on patty inside a spicy chipotle bun? It’s yours. With numerous ingredients, your burger becomes even more customizable to the way you like it.

A personal favorite burger of mine is the San Diego. This burger is loaded to perfection with all the good stuff from America’s Finest City: Fresh avocado, cilantro, onions, pepper jack cheese, lettuce, tomato, sour cream, spicy chipotle mayo on a torta roll and served with a wedge of lime.

Also highly notable are its Smashfries and Häagen-Dazs shakes. The Smashfries are tossed with rosemary, olive oil and garlic and the perfect complement to any burger. The shakes are creamy, packed with ice cream and come in the traditional strawberry, vanilla, chocolate format, but also three decadent flavors: Oreo, Butterfinger and NutterButter.

Scan the menu carefully; you’ll be surprised by the fun variety of unusual food available such as the fried pickles served with Ranch dressing, black bean burger and Veggie Frites.

Additionally, there are plenty of alternatives to burgers, including delicious chicken sandwiches, Chicago-style hot dogs and salads.

And although this restaurant can be considered a fast-food style restaurant with its order-at-the-counter format, it’s a place to sit and enjoy your burger. There are plenty of comfortable booths, outside tables and friendly servers.
