PGA-Worthy Fairway Fashions at Rancho Bernardo Inn

Vivacity Sportswear is a clothing line in the swing of things.

You have your tickets for the Farmers Insurance Open at Torrey Pines and you've perfected your golf clap for Tiger Woods and local pro Phil Mickelson, but do you have something fashionable to wear on the course? Lucky for us locals, a Carmel Valley-based apparel company sells women's activewear at Rancho Bernardo Inn that is perfect for your visit to the 100-acre course and PGA party this weekend.

Vivian Sayward created the line—Vivacity Sportswear, which consists of women’s golf apparel for on the course and off, in 2011.

Sayward decided to create what she could not find in boutiques or online—fashionable golf attire for women. She created clothing pieces that are functional and fashionable. The line consists of tops, dresses, skirts, skorts, pants, jackets and leggings. Many are embellished with Swarovski crystals and all are handmade in San Diego.

“Our partnership with Swarovski has allowed us to transform traditional athletic skirts, jackets, dresses and pants into modern-day activewear that not only travels well, but are as comfortable as they are unique,” said Sayward, a former biotech professional. “Our customers include golfers, tennis players, yoga instructors and other athletes—all of whom demand sportswear that not only performs, but reflects their unique, modern style.”

Kim Johnson, the assistance golf professional at the Rancho Bernardo Inn and a Vivacity Sportswear ambassador, said her only sportswear options growing up were baggy and not very age appropriate.

“In all of my junior golf photos, my shorts and skirts sit higher than my belly-button—not a good look,” she said in an endorsement of Vivacity’s line.

Vivacity current sells at Rancho Valencia, Rancho Bernardo InnThe Bridges at Rancho Santa Fe and Yoga Del Mar.

Sayward hopes to break into several other resort markets in the next year, including in Florida, Texas and Hawaii.

Pieces are priced at $40 to $195 and can be purchased online or at several local pro shops and boutiques.

See you on the course or at cocktail hour.
