New Restaurant to Taste: Saigon Bistro and Grill

Each week, RB Patch will suggest a local restaurant to check out. This week: Saigon Bistro and Grill.

You could stand on a corner and look around until a restaurant sign draws you in. But we've got a better idea. Each week, Rancho Bernardo Patch picks a great restaurant either in town or nearby that is worth checking out. Here's this week's choice:

Saigon Bistro and Grill—If you like to be the first to check out new restaurants, here's the pick for you. This Vietnamese cuisine restaurant recently held its grand opening—so recent that the giant "grand opening" sign is still up! Owner Lien Pham said the catfish, shrimp cake and stuffed escargot have been popular items since the "soft" opening on Dec. 14. The grand opening was Jan. 23. For moderately priced meals, with lots of options to choose from, this is a spot to check out. And be sure to let us know how it was!

It's tucked away in The Plaza Shopping Center area near The Barrel Room and URGE American Gastropub: 16769 Bernardo Center Dr. K8.; 858-618-2400.

Open Monday-Saturday, 11 a.m.-10 p.m.; Sundays, 11 a.m.-9:30 p.m.
