Due to the rainy weather, the La Mesa "Christmas in the Village" event is officially canceled for Friday night.
La Mesa Village Merchants Association member Deena While confirmed this to Patch. While said that there are still some things going on, like carolers singing under canopies to get out of the rain, but that the event as a whole will not take place.
She said that the LMVMA plans on resuming the Christmas festival on Saturday, pending the weather, and that a determination will be made some time on Saturday.

Thousands are expected to come be transported to a Victorian wonderland, as the popular "Christmas In the Village" holiday event kicks off Friday night.
The two-day event, sponsored by the La Mesa Village Merchants Association (LMVMA), will be held Friday and Saturday, from 5 to 10 p.m. Each night begins with a holiday parade down La Mesa Boulevard. The event also features food and vendor booths, Christmas carolers, and lots more.
The festivities will take over the Village, as guests are treated to strolling minstrels and street entertainers, live music, and horse-drawn carriage rides.

Kids will have the opportunity to meet Santa as well.
