After being laid off from her software engineering job more than a year ago, Kathie Wilcox got a lead on a new job from her family.
Those delicious baked treats she made for her child's classes? Why not turn them into a business, they said. And she has.
Wilcox, who runs The Sweet Spot at the on Sundays, would always make white chocolate cranberry challah for the classes, and now they are a popular item for her new business.
It's hard work, Wilcox said, but it's given her a new avenue for income after losing her job.
The Sweet Spot offers cinnamon rolls for $2.50, fudge, toffee, sweet petes and peanut butter spots.
