At Home in Westwood - Since 1985

When I think of Westwood I think “Home”.  I think Community,  togetherness, history, traditions.  In July, 1985, we bought a house here, and I said, “I’m never going to move my kids until they graduate.”  I wanted a house big enough that the kids could grow up, have their friends over, parties, guests from out of town, a yard, and neighbors who were friends.  That all come true, and would be if we were starting out today.

My daughter Eva, now 35,  was starting first Grade at Westwood Elementary, with our then-neighbor, Mrs. Mallory, as her teacher.  Mrs. Mallory lived right across the street, and her twin girls were Eva’s age.  Along with their little brother Patrick, they walked to school together, carrying little Dioramas and Valentines, or wearing Halloween costumes.  They played in each others’ houses, but mostly outside in the cul de sac.  Next door were two boys, Chris and Brian, who bring their children to visit their parents, who are still here.  Next to them, two girls, Kristen and Amber, and their parents remain.  In fact most of the homes still house the owners who were there when we arrived.  All of our kids played hide and seek and other racing around screaming games, well into the summer nights.  Now, my daughter is working in the field of Paleontology in Colorado, and my son is a Commander in the Navy.  I like to know that when they come home, the echoes of children’s voices can still be heard outside.

I have loads of photos of events at the Club, the School, the Luminarias, the days before the 4S Ranch, and I'd like o share them here.  Pease ad your memories as they occur.
