FAMILY BEST BETS OF THE WEEK

Where/when: Glassman Recreation Center, Rancho Bernardo, 4 p.m., Wednesday.

Why Go: Everyone sings so well on "Glee," but Mr. Schu and Mike Chang can seriously bust some moves, and even, yes, break dance. If your teen is feeling the dancing more than the singing, and is a little ambitious, Ronnie Isaguirre teaches break dancing every Wednesday afternoon. A parental waiver is required.

Where/when: Poway Center for the Performing Arts, Poway, 7 p.m., Saturday.

Where/when: Petco, Escondido, Saturday-Sunday.

Why Go: Because the world's not all about cats and dogs. If you prefer  a nice goldfish or a lizard, Petco is hosting a fair to celebrate the new opening of its new aquatic and reptile departments.

Where/when: Birch Aquarium, La Jolla, 11 a.m., Saturday.

Why Go: For SEA Days, which this month features explorers from CalEchoes, a cruise for scientists and grad students to study the diverse Southern California coast.

Where/when: San Diego History Center,  Balboa Park, San Diego, 12:30 p.m., Saturday.

Why Go: If "tale as old as time ..." is a refrain oft repeated in your house, your child may be thrilled by the chance to don costumes as part of the Beauty and the Beast Song and Dance Party. And theatre staff will be on hand to guide them too.

Price: $8, per child and adult pair.
