'In Concert for Cancer' Set for March 11 Aboard USS Midway Museum

A contemporary jazz concert to benefit research and patient services at Scripps Cancer Center is set for Friday, March 11 from 6:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. aboard the USS Midway Museum, alongside Navy Pier in downtown San Diego.

The inaugural “In Concert for Cancer” fundraising concert will feature a lineup of six world-renowned jazz recording artists, who will perform under the stars on the aircraft carrier museum’s flight deck. Headlining artists include guitarist Richard Smith, keyboardist Gregg Karukas, and fellow saxophonists Jeff Kashiwa and Steve Cole. Special guest artists for the evening include saxophonist and vocalist Mindi Abair and saxophonist Kim Waters. Kashiwa, Cole and Waters will also perform as the traveling trio known as the “Sax Pack.”

General admission tickets are $50 per person. VIP tickets are available for $100 per person and include front-row seating and backstage meet-and-greet with world-class musicians prior to the show.
