9/11 Remembrance for the Victims and the Heroes

As the Holidays approach, we take pause to Honor the Victims and Heroes of 911.

The North San Diego Farmers Market will be honored to be displaying an actual piece of WTC Steel (weighing almost 800 lbs) from the fallen World Trade Center, as well as patriotic flags (weather permitting) courtesy of Albert Kapitanski, son of the "Flag Man of Oceanside" this Sunday December 18, from 10am-3pm.

Wayne Louth of the World Memorial (www.world-memorial.org) has arranged to have a piece of actual WTC Steel brought to the Farmers Market site this Sunday.

This is an exciting opportunity for the local community to personally see a piece of the fallen towers. The legacy of the events of 911 have touched everyone in some way, and serves to remind us that we can never forget history, whether from 911, 10-years ago, or from 140-years ago when the Sikes Family lived in the Farmhouse that has been restored on this site. History, local and otherwise, is forever a part of our lives.

The piece of steel from the fallen World Trade Center that the North San Diego Farmers Market will have on display (Sunday December 18, 10am-3pm) weighs almost 800 pounds. It was most recently included in the Vista Christmas Parade on December 3rd.

A Mobile 911 Memorial, a converted ambulance, will also be on display at the North San Diego Farmers Market on Sunday December 18, accompanying the piece of steel from the collapsed World Trade Center Towers.

Please join us on the grounds of the Sikes Abobe Historic Farmstead, during the North San Diego Farmers Market, as we Honor the Victims and Heroes of 911 this Holiday Season.
